MAGAZINE SPREAD

Category: Group
Value: 20 Points
Time: 4 weeks
YOUR TASK
Create a 4-page spread for a magazine of your imagining (i.e. not a magazine that already exists). Your magazine can be any style or genre, and focus on any topic that you like, but your spread must include at least one article.

You may wish to create a magazine cover to go with your spread but it is not compulsory for you to do this.

ALL content in your spread must be original (created by you). This includes photographs, articles and any graphics that you might choose to add (e.g. border designs, cartoons).

Make sure you are spreading the workload as evenly as possible between your group members. It shouldn't be one person's sole responsibility to write the article. Instead, one person should be the lead writer and the other group members should help to proofread and edit the piece.

What are the Conventions of a Magazine Spread?
All magazine typically employ the same page layout conventions such as headlines, body copy and images. However, there are also some conventions that are specific to different types of magazines.

For example, Frankie magazine uses a very minimalist aesthetic, whereas K-Zone magazine is FULL of overlapping images, text and colour. National Geographic magazine showcases high quality nature photography, whereas Readers Digest magazine places greater emphasis on the articles.

You will need to do some research to decide what sort of magazine you would like to create for this task.
